Members of the Washington State Legislative and Congressional staff toured the WSU College of Nursing's Center for Experiential Learning where they had hands-on experience checking vital signs on a high-fidelity mannequin.

The WSU Office of External Affairs & Government Relations (EAGR) hosted a Legislative and Congressional staff tour at the WSU Spokane Health Sciences campus. One stop included the WSU College of Nursing where staff and faculty showcased the college’s Center for Experiential Learning, where students are able to practice real-world nursing scenarios in a safe and supportive environment. The Center for Experiential Learning, supported by Clinical Skills Lab preceptors and Simulation Specialists, is a place where skills are refined and leadership qualities are nurtured.

The College welcomed attendees such as Michele Alishahi, Fiscal Analyst from the Washington State Senate Committee Services, Kevin Chang, Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell, and many more state legislative and congressional staff members.

During the visit, attendees engaged with experts in nursing education and practice. Dawn DePriest, Assistant Dean, Experiential Learning, College of Nursing, Anne Mason, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, College of Nursing, and Jennifer Robinson, Associate Vice President for Interprofessional Education, WSU Health Sciences Spokane led sessions on Experiential Learning & Interprofessional Education, showcasing our commitment to teaching well-rounded healthcare professionals.
