Dean’s Office

Mary Koithan, PhD, RN, CNS-BC, FAAN, is the ninth leader of the College of Nursing in its more than 50-year history.  Dr. Koithan comes from the University of Arizona, where she was associate dean for student and community engagement in the College of Nursing and an Anne Furrow Professor of Integrative Nursing. She has more than 30 years of academic and leadership experience in nursing.

Faculty Departments

In the Fall of 2023, WSU College of Nursing restructured it’s faculty units into three functional department units: Foundational Practice and Community-Based Care, Nursing and Systems Science Department, and Advanced Practice and Community-Based Care. Academic Affairs

Academic Affairs supports all curriculum initiatives for the academic programs in the College. This includes supporting curriculum revisions or new curriculum development, ensuring academic programs meet all accreditation and regulatory requirements, and managing academic scheduling.

Clinical Affairs

The Office of Clinical Affairs is responsible for leadership in developing short and long-range plans for clinical placements and coordinating clinical and community-based partnerships that contribute to the overall College of Nursing mission. This office is also responsible for onboarding and compliance oversight for all clinical and non-clinical student experiences.

Business & Finance

Business Services department encompasses accounts payable processing, personnel support, budget management, contracts, payroll, purchasing, grant support, and travel processing.

Center for Experiential Learning

WSU College of Nursing is a national leader in simulation-based learning, offering lifelike health care environments for students to apply clinical skills, teamwork, and communication, with a focus on reflecting real-world nursing scenarios for improved job readiness.

Development and Advancement

The Development department serves as a liaison between alumni, local and regional donors, and nursing students across the state, while also managing scholarship funds, endowments, and gifts.

Marketing & Communications

The WSU College of Nursing Marketing and Communications department handles public relations, marketing, website management, and social media publishing.

Nursing IT

The WSU College of Nursing Information Technology department manages software and hardware infrastructure and provides Canvas and technical support for the College.

Office of Research & Scholarship

The College of Nursing Office of Research & Scholarship provides support to graduate students and faculty in securing extramural support for their scholarly, research, teaching, and community service activities.

Professional Development

The Professional Development office provides approved Continuing Education sessions for faculty, staff, and RNs across the state of Washington; along with a School Nurse certification course and IAFN approved SANE Skills Courses.

Student Services

The Center for Student Excellence supports student success from admissions through graduation, across all programs and campuses. Support encompasses guidance, resources, supportive spaces, connections to student activities and organizations, and more. Students are supported by advisors/coordinators, student success coaches, and admission and program coordinators.
