NINR Director's Lecture

Join NINR on March 6, 2024 at 12:00-1:00 p.m. (ET) for our next Director’s Lecture. Dr. Julie Postma, Professor in the Department of Nursing and Systems Science and the Associate Dean for Research at Washington State University College of Nursing, will present an overview of her research program and join Dr. Shannon Zenk for a discussion on the application of NINR’s social determinants of health research lens to research on climate change and health and the role of nursing research in advancing science in this area.

Julie Postma, PhD, RN

Dr. Julie PostmaDr. Postma is a Professor in the Department of Nursing and Systems Science and the Associate Dean for Research at Washington State University College of Nursing. She worked clinically as a cardiothoracic nurse before studying occupational and environmental health and earning a PhD in Nursing Science. She has over 15 years of experience working alongside community partners to promote environmental health and justice. With the arrival of significant, hazardous, and disruptive wildfire smoke in 2015, her program of research shifted to studying risk reduction strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change. Dr. Postma was selected by The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to serve as their 2024 NIH Climate and Health Scholar.
