Title of talk: Components of Success Within Health Sciences-Focused Mentoring Programs

Faculty attrition is a significant concern within the health sciences. Lack of mentorship has been identified as an important barrier to career development and satisfaction within academia. Despite the evidence that mentoring is important, formal programs within the health sciences are not widespread or vary greatly in content and structure. Proper planning, execution, and assessment of faculty mentoring programs is critical to the identification of additional program characteristics for optimal faculty success. This session will outline programmatic components and structural features associated with success and provide insight for the development of faculty mentoring programs within the health sciences.
