Dr. Kawkab Shishani, a professor and faculty researcher at Washington State University College of Nursing, has received pilot funding to launch a timely study on flavored e-cigarettes—an area of growing concern in public health and addiction research.

Dr. Shishani has been awarded $3,000 from the Templeton Family Excellence in Nursing Fund to support early-stage research exploring the use, appeal, and potential health impacts of flavored e-cigarettes. The study will help generate foundational data for future external grant proposals.

“This is a great example of how donor-established funds can empower faculty to explore pressing health questions,” said Liz Fleming, Senior Director of Development for the WSU College of Nursing. “The Templeton Fund continues to support meaningful research that contributes to the health and well-being of our communities.”

The Templeton Family Excellence in Nursing Fund was created through an estate gift. It continues to support important faculty projects, not just student scholarships.
