About the ATI TEAS Exam
The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is designed specifically to assess an applicant’s preparedness for entering the health science fields. The ATI TEAS exam is similar to the SAT or ACT; however, it is designed specifically for health science programs. The score you receive on the ATI TEAS exam will help schools determine your readiness for a Nursing or Allied Health program.
The ATI TEAS exam is comprised of 170 questions set up in a multiple-choice format. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.
When to take the ATI TEAS Exam
Applicants must have a TEAS exam score within the acceptable date range for the term in which they are completing the application. The exam date cannot be any older than one year before the start of the application cycle, and it is highly recommended that applicants complete the exam no later than one week prior to the application deadline. The date range for the next few cycles are as follows:
| Application Term | Earliest Test Date Eligible | Latest Test Date Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2027 | October 1, 2025 | December 13, 2026 |
| Spring 2028 | May 15, 2026 | July 8, 2027 |
| Fall 2028 | October 1, 2026 | December 13, 2027 |
| Spring 2029 | May 15, 2027 | July 8, 2028 |
This date range ensures that applicants are evaluated on their most up-to-date knowledge base and that there is time for the exam to be scored, the Individual Performance Profile (IPP) to become available, and applicants have enough time to update their TEAS score information prior to the application deadline.
- If the TEAS score is from before the date range for the term in which the applicant completes the application, the applicant will be marked ineligible for admission. i.e. if you are applying for Fall 2027 and took the TEAS in January 2025, you will need to re-take the exam.
- If the TEAS test date is after the latest recommended date for the term in which the applicant completes the application, all TEAS information, including scores and the Individual Performance Profile (IPP), must be submitted before the application deadline or the applicant may be marked ineligible for admission.
