Job Description
Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics is seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room RN to join our surgical services team. In this role, you’ll provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care while working alongside a dedicated surgical team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
What You’ll Do
- Assess patients before surgery and develop individualized perioperative care plans
- Prepare and maintain the operating room with required supplies, instruments, and equipment
- Safely administer medications and assist providers during surgical procedures
- Protect patients from surgical site infections, retained items, and procedure-related risks
- Manage specimens according to policy and ensure accurate documentation throughout care
- Monitor and maintain patients’ vital systems, fluid balance, and normothermia during procedures
- Advocate for patient rights, dignity, and privacy while providing age-specific, culturally competent care
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, providers, and surgical teammates
- Participate in quality improvement projects, continuing education, and professional growth initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Current Washington RN license
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- AHA BLS (upon hire and maintained)
- AHA ACLS and PALS (within 6 months of hire and maintained)
Preferred:
- 1+ years of Operating Room nursing experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- CNOR certification (or willingness to complete within 2 years)
- Basic computer and EMR skills
