The Job Market

  • Coug Nurses are in demand. 80% of our BSN students land their first RN job within three months of graduation.
  • Registered nurses are in big demand because of an aging population, the nursing workforce itself getting older, and disruptions caused by the pandemic.
  • Nurses work hard, which is reflected in their shifts and their pay. A common hospital schedule is three 12 hour shifts with four days off each week. The average annual salary for an Registered Nurse (RN) in Washington is $95,350, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Nursing needs more cultural competency, including rural, first-generation, 2SLGBTQIA+, and military nurses, as well as nurses of color and nurses who speak languages in addition to English. As a nurse, you play a vital role in your community and your voice is crucial to improve community healthcare.
