Interested in precepting?

If you are interested in serving as a Preceptor, please complete the following form. We look forward to exploring a partnership with you!

Academic Affiliate Appointment Process

The first step is to request an affiliate appointment using the link above, which can be used for new and renewal appointment requests. When completing the form, you will submit information about your engagement with the College of Nursing, your contact information, and a current CV. Prospective new appointments will be contacted for additional information. The information we will request includes:

-Full name as listed on government ID
-Gender as listed on government ID
-Date of birth
-Social Security number
-Personal email address and phone number

This information is necessary to generate WSU credentials. WSU credentials include a WSU Network ID (NID), a WSU ID Number, and a WSU email address, which are required to access privileges such as the WSU libraries. This process takes up to six weeks.

Once approved and processed, you will receive an auto-generated email invitation from wsu.edu. This email will contain instructions on how to activate your WSU Network ID/NID username and password at activate.wsu.edu. Record this information in a safe location!

If you have a previous affiliation with WSU, you may already have a WSU NID, ID Number, and email address. In that case, we will verify your information remains the same and initiate your new access as an Academic Affiliate.
If your previous affiliation with WSU was under a different name (as a student, for example), you will also need to submit a name change request through WSU Payroll Services. Once approved and processed, you can log into WSU services using your WSU Network ID and Password.

Passwords and Security

WSU utilizes multi-factor authentication (MFA), which you will be prompted to setup upon account creation. Passwords expire every 180 days. You will receive emails from OKTA letting you know when yours is about to expire, as well as instructions on how to update your password.

If your password is not updated when you are notified, you will need to reset your account using the steps below.

Resetting Your WSU Password

If you have forgotten or misplaced your WSU password, you can reset it by following these steps:

  • Visit account.wsu.edu
  • Select ‘Need help signing in?’
  • Select ‘Forgot Password’
  • You will be asked for your WSU email address
  • Select one of the reset options you previously setup for account recovery
  • You will receive a code via the method selected in the previous step – enter it when requested
  • Next you will setup a new password. Passwords must be complex, and will expire every 180 days. Please make sure you change your password prior to the 180 day expiration, or you will have to repeat the steps above to reset it.
  • If you are unable to reset your password following these steps, please contact the WSU Crimson Help Desk at 509.335.4357.
