About the Graduation & Pinning Ceremony
The Graduation & Pinning Ceremony is a College of Nursing celebration that honors all graduating nursing students. During the ceremony:
- Faculty formally welcome BSN graduates into the profession by presenting a nursing pin.
- MN, DNP, and PhD graduates will be recognized and hooded by faculty.
This event brings our nursing community together to acknowledge the work, commitment, and achievements of every graduate. The College of Nursing ceremony is separate from the university-wide graduation in Pullman, WA. Its purpose is simple and intentional:
- One shared moment.
- One nursing community.
- Recognition for all College of Nursing graduates across programs.

Apply for Your Degree
All applications are submitted online. Submit your application for Undergraduate degrees, Certificates through the myWSU Academic Advising tile on the Student Homepage.
Masters, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and PhD degree applications are submitted to the Graduate School.
RSVP
Once you’ve applied for your degree, it’s time to RSVP for graduation and pinning. We use the information you provide during the ceremony, so it’s important that you complete the RSVP on time in order to be properly recognized.
Regalia
Traditional caps and gowns are required at all WSU Commencement ceremonies. Those being commissioned as officers in the ROTC program may choose to wear either their military uniform or a cap and gown.
Join the Alumni Association
The Washington State University Alumni Association (WSUAA) is focused on proactively increasing WSUAA membership and expanding the ways alumni and friends of WSU can become meaningfully engaged with the University. Go Cougs!

Graduation & Pinning Attire:
- Students in Spokane are asked to wear caps and gowns with academic regalia.
- Students in the Tri-Cities are asked to wear caps and gowns with academic regalia.
- Students in Yakima are asked to wear cap and gowns.
Nursing Pin:
WSU College of Nursing provides a custom pin for all pre-licensure BSN students.
