Biography

Jamie L. Rock has been a registered nurse for over 25 years. She received her BSN from Weber State University and originally planned to pursue a career as a NICU nurse. However, after being recruited into psych right after graduating from nursing school, she fell in love with this very underserved area of need. While she has practiced as a surgical nurse, neuro-ortho nurse, and community health nurse, it is psych that continues to call to her. The desire to teach others about the importance of psych and community health, long before COVID, called to her. She earned her MSN in nursing education from Weber State University. Her master’s project focused on awareness, research, and treatment (ART) for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, their families, and healthcare providers. Following graduation she moved to Austin, Texas to teach at the University of Texas. This is where she taught mental health and community health for seven years and received her PhD in nursing with a specialty in autism research. A desire to be closer to family brought her to Spokane, where she currently teaches in the undergraduate program at Washington State University.
