Biography

Cindy came to nursing through a non-traditional route. After working in Corporate Finance for 10 years for healthcare companies, she went back to school for nursing. She completed the Graduate Entry Program at University of Illinois Chicago with a direct entry into her Advanced Practice Program in Midwifery after completing her RN. She has worked in a variety of birth settings including a small Community Hospital working in an LDRP unit, as a home birth assistant, and full scope midwifery with deliveries in major hospitals. She loves teaching nursing students about sexual health, pregnancy, and postpartum. She is particularly interested in exposing students to the many ways diversity is seen in a birthing family, both regarding maternal morbidity and mortality and LGBTQ families.

Personally, she stays busy with her three teenage kids and husband. They like to spend time going to the kids’ sporting events, camping, and seeing concerts.
