Sarah Fincham is the Interim Department Chair for the Advanced Practice and Community-based Care Department. Dr. Fincham is a clinical associate professor at Washington State University and family nurse practitioner. She completed a post-masters Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Rush University and completed a community-based quality improvement project titled Increasing Awareness and Improving Uptake of HPV Vaccine. She received a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in the family nurse practitioner (FNP) track at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Illinois Wesleyan University. She currently practices in the college student health setting and eating disorders settings and teaches in the FNP/DNP program at WSU. Her areas of special clinical interest include women’s health, adolescent health, immunization education, wellness promotion, and patient-provider communication.

Co-I: Ward, L., Dotson, J., Odom-Maryon, T., Fincham, S.J…US Health & Human Services. Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). (Dates: 1/2018-5/2019). Description of role: Created and delivered evidence-based preceptor training to 8 local clinics and evaluated the effectiveness of the training via participant survey (Community Health Association of Spokane [CHAS]) and Unify Community Health and one professional nurse practitioner group Nurse Practitioner Group of Spokane [NPGS], between 2/2018 -5/2019.

Date received: December 2015. Description: Developed scripts and directed filming of training videos intended to be used to train observers for future time and motion nursing studies.
