Mask recommendation extended

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has continued to report an increase in COVID-19 cases within Spokane County and has encouraged our community to exercise additional precautions to ensure our collective health and safety and minimize the spread of COVID. As such, WSU Spokane recommends students, faculty, and staff continue wearing a high-quality mask indoors through July 29th while on campus. KN95, N95, surgical masks, or their equivalents are recommended as cloth masks, face shields, and neck gaiters have been shown to be less effective.

Additionally, we ask that our campus community continue to: Stay home if you’re not feeling well. If you test positive for COVID or are a close contact of someone who has tested positive, please follow the recommended guidelines. For non-COVID illnesses, please stay home until your symptoms start to resolve, and wear a mask until you are fully recovered. Supervisors and instructors—please practice understanding and offer flexibility for students and employees who are ill.

Get your booster. Faculty, Administrative Professional, and Civil Service staff are eligible for two hours of paid leave to obtain a COVID vaccine, including your COVID booster.

WSU Employees report positive COVID-19 cases to WSU Environmental Health and Safety. WSU is carefully monitoring the prevalence of COVID at all campus locations. If you test positive for COVID-19, please call 509-335-9564 or 509-335-5251 or report your positive diagnosis to a supervisor or campus/college COVID Coordinator. Please visit wsu.edu/covid-19 for additional information regarding COVID-19 response at WSU.
