WSU Nurse Faculty Loan Program
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) – $320,000
7/1/2015 – 6/30/2016
The Washington State University College of Nursing (WSU) Nurse faculty Loan Program (NFLP) is designed to expand our ability to prepare graduate nurses for careers as nurse educators. Support is sought to help meet the financial needs of graduate nurse educator students for tuition, fees, and books. The specific aims are funding assistance to support graduate nursing students prepared as: (a) culturally competent nurse faculty with a master’s degree in a practice specialty, (b) doctoral graduates in our new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) to translate nursing phenomena into practice (taking the nurse educator courses as electives), and (c) PhD students aiming to investigate nursing phenomena and develop new nursing knowledge: all these groups of graduates are educated to assume faculty positions immediately upon graduation: masters and DNP students who choose the nurse educator electives are educated within their practice specialties with an additional functional role as educators.
