How to Write Proposals that Get Funded and Papers that Get Cited Workshop Series

This is a series of three virtual workshops consisting of presentations and discussions lead by Dr. Schimel. The first session will focus on story and story structure – the big picture. What are the key elements that frame your strategy for a piece? Participants that register for this event will need to complete and submit a brief pre-workshop activity at least one week before the workshop. The second session will dive into the fine details – word use. How to sharpen writing to activate and clarify and to tighten it to save space (all proposals have page limits). The issue isn’t just avoiding “jargon” – we deal with technical material and must use technical terms. The issue is often more about using verbs badly. The third and final session will look at how do the small- and large-scale pieces fit together to create documents that flow and have power.
