2021 NWONL Scholarship Application is Open

In support of developing and fostering nursing leadership excellence, the Northwest Organization of Nurse Leaders (NWONL) sponsors two $2,500 academic scholarships annually for NWONL members. One of the scholarships will be awarded to a nurse leader from an underrepresented group (racial, ethnic, socio-cultural). Of note, the personal essay question for 2021 is specifically designed to highlight how the applicant intends to address and advance a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion in the nursing profession.

The application window will close September 20th, 2021.

Awardee notification and members updates are scheduled for early October pending verification and acceptance of awardee.

Selection Process
The selection will be made by the NWONL Scholarship Committee, an ad-hoc committee will be formed by the Develop Commission on a volunteer basis to provide objective and nondiscriminatory evaluation of applicants. This committee will have 3-5 members. Each applicant will be evaluated on the base requirements and the strength of the essay and
recommendations:

  • Overall strength of the essay (0=not scholarly and/or professional, 1 = somewhat
    scholarly and/or professional, 2 = highly scholarly and/or professional)
  • Overall strength of the recommendations (0=not recommended, 1 = partial
    recommendation, 2 = full recommendation)
  • Overall candidate strength based on CV/resume (0=not recommended, 1 = partial
    recommendation, 2 = full recommendation)
