A Message from Dean Joyce Griffin-Sobel
As we begin our 50th anniversary celebrations, I would like to take a minute for reflection.
A First Class Experience
There were just 37 students in the first graduating class of what’s now the Washington State University College of Nursing. Though students entered the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education (ICNE) from different schools, they quickly became close. Many say they felt like pioneers as students and faculty learned from each other to build the program.
History of the College of Nursing
This timeline traces the history of the WSU College of Nursing from its first organizational meetings in the Davenport Hotel to its recognition last year as a Center of Excellence in nursing education.
Donor Spotlight: Wally Lindblad
Waldron O. “Wally” Lindblad, 92, is paying tribute to the nurses he served with in the Korean War through $1 million in gift commitments to the Washington State University College of Nursing.
Faculty Spotlight: Lois James
Lois James, an assistant professor in the Washington State University College of Nursing, was honored in October as a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA of Spokane.
