Lecture at the MAC will trace Margaret Sanger’s Spokane connections
Two people in Spokane played important roles in activist Margaret Sanger’s road to founding Planned Parenthood – a wealthy socialite who befriended Sanger, and a young engineer who eventually became her business partner in a contraceptives company. Sanger’s Spokane connections will be the topic of a talk on May 17 by Richard Sola, a former administrator with Eastern Washington University. Special screening of “Defining Hope” documentary
"Defining Hope" follows eight patients with life-threatening illness, and the nurses who guide them in making critical decisions along the way. Nurses who attend will receive 1.25 free contact hours for watching the film and completing an evaluation. Brought to Spokane for a one-night screening by the Washington State Nurses Association and the WSU College of Nursing. Pictures of Nursing: The Zwerdling Postcard Collection
This traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine explores a unique archive of nearly 2,600 postcards featuring images of nurses and the nursing profession from around the world. The postcard is a fleeting and widespread art form, and nurses and nursing have been frequent subjects of postcards for over 100 years. Trick or Treat So All Can Eat
WSU College of Nursing students are hosting this second annual event for kids with dietary restrictions or other special needs. There will be games, crafts and prizes, plus carb counts on all of the treats, gluten-free options, and a peanut-free environment. The location, in the Bookie building on the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus, is accessible. Best of all, it's free, with free parking. Accessible entrance is on the south side of the building.
