Concussions are prevalent injuries, many of which are treated in outpatient settings. This study compares healthcare costs and service utilization associated with concussion in a population of rural and urban commercially insured children, in order to  capture rural-urban disparities. In this presentation, Dr. Graves will describe her use of commercial insurance claims data to compare healthcare costs and specialty care utilization after mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) among rural and urban children (aged <18 years). She will discuss use of administrative data for research, identifying study cohorts, use of propensity score weighting, and multivariable approaches to examine heteroskedastic cost and utilization outcomes. As findings, Dr. Graves will summarize the costs and healthcare utilization among 396,536 children with mild TB
