2023 Butterfield Upstream Fund Keynote and Lecture

Butterfield Endowment Keynote Lecture - Planetary Health Building Solidarity for a Better Future
Please join us to hear keynote speaker Dr. Teddie Potter, PhD, RN, FAAN, FNAP, who will discuss “Planetary Health- Building Solidarity for a Better Future”. The keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with WSU College of Nursing faculty members. Participants can earn 1.5 continuing nursing education contact hours.
The Butterfield Upstream event is in honor of Patricia Butterfield’s leadership, service, and research as dean at Washington State University College of Nursing.

Dr. Teddie Potter presents a pre-recorded talk focusing on how whole person wellbeing is dependent on planetary health and wellbeing and the advocacy obligations of nursing as a discipline to be committed to planetary health concerns.

1:45-2:20 pm Panel Discussion
Application exemplars with panel of Nursing faculty (research, scholarship and teaching).

About Dr. Teddie Potter, PhD, RN, FAAN, FNAP
Clinical Professor, School of Nursing- University of Minnesota
Director of Planetary Health

Dr. Potter is deeply committed to climate change and planetary health education including membership in the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, and membership on the American Academy of Nursing Environment and Public Health Expert Panel. She is a member of the Coordinating Committee of Columbia University’s Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education and a Fellow in the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. She chairs Clinicians for Planetary Health (C4PH) and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Planetary Health Alliance at Harvard. She currently serves on the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Decarbonizing the US Health Sector. In 2019, Dr. Potter was appointed the first Director of Planetary Health for the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota.
