Vicki Denson is the Foundational Practice and Community-Based Care Department Chair and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Washington State University College of Nursing in Vancouver, WA. Her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing Science degree was completed at New Mexico State University with an emphasis on health disparities and vulnerable populations. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) were completed at Arizona State University. Her clinical practice has focused on women’s health in a variety of community settings over the past 20 years. Experiences volunteering as a healthcare provider in charitable clinics, led to her interest in exploring volunteer healthcare providers’ practices for preventive screenings with under-served women and what motivates volunteerism. She is certified as a nurse educator and has taught RN-BSN and graduate nursing students since 2008. In her educator role she strives to deliver student-centered learning.
