Future Students New to Nursing


Students apply to the College of Nursing after completing lower division (freshman & sophomore) requisite course work. Students may apply through one of the consortium schools where they complete at least one year of full time study. Transfer students and second-degree students also apply to the College through one of the consortium colleges. Transfer students with a transferable AA degree from a community college in Washington or Oregon usually enroll through WSU. All students work with the campus Admissions Department and Pre-Nursing Advisor at the campus of their choice. Early planning assures selection of transferable courses and timely application to the College. programs, proceed to

Pre-Nursing Advisors on each campus assist students in completing course work and applications necessary to apply for enrollment at the College of Nursing. Courses are taught in Spokane, Yakima and Tri-Cities. For Pre-Nursing advising, contact:

Student preparation for the College of Nursing is similar among the four colleges and transfer programs. Students graduate with a joint degree from both the college of enrollment as well as from Washington State University. Graduates participate in the campus graduation of one and/or both colleges.

BSN graduates consistently achieve one of the highest rates of passage of first-time candidates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses in Washington State. Graduates of undergraduate and graduate programs are highly sought after for their excellence in nursing practice.
