Local Nursing Faculty Member Elected as Honor Society Regional Chapter Coordinator

SPOKANE, Wash.--Cindy Corbett, Ph.D., RN, an associate
professor at the Washington State University
Intercollegiate College of Nursing, has been elected as
Region One's Regional Chapter Coordinator for the Honor
Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.
Corbett was elected at the honor society's 39th Biennial
Convention, held recently in Baltimore.
The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, one of the largest international nursing organizations, works to foster, develop and connect nurse scholars and leaders worldwide to improve health care. The honor society promotes nursing excellence through its initiatives in research, leadership, an electronic library, programming andpublications and develops and distributes nursing knowledge for use in practice.
Each region of the honor society is divided into chapters. As a regional coordinator, Corbett provides leadership that establishes and maintains networks for communication and sharing among 32 Region One chapters, regional committee members, and members of other international committees.
"Nurses, like others in society today, have commitments that limit the time they can devote to professional and service organizations," said Corbett. "My goal is to help chapters in Region One meet their individual chapter goals and support the Nursing Honor Society's vision, which is to promote global health."
Corbett has been a faculty member at WSU since 1997 and has worked in a variety of home healthcare clinical positions in Spokane, Chicago and Seattle. She received her doctoral degree in nursing and post-doctorate in nursing research and innovative health outcomes from Loyola University Chicago.
