• Journal – publishing rigor identified? peer reviewed? editorial review? Can you find this on the website in ‘information for authors’?
• Title contained components of research or PICO question?
• Authors’ educational and experiential credentials identified? One was a nurse?
• Abstract – problem, PICO, design & analysis, and, results stated? Less than 120 words?
• Article introduction – contained problem & purpose statements?
• Literature review reflected known science regarding the topic? thorough?
• Theoretical foundation identified?
• Research or PICO question clearly stated?
• Methods section: IRB approval? sample selection process? measurement procedures? validity and reliability measures?
• Demographics/Results/Discussion section included
• Implications for future research identified?
• Article worthy of publication?
• Reliable? Valid? Applicable?
