the SITE
The Intercollegiate College of Nursing will be located adjacent to the existing Health Sciences Building. This site will allow for increased student and faculty interaction with other health science programs, take advantage of consolidating campus support services, and will promote and enhance collaboration, research, and teaching activities.
The site is located just south of the Health Sciences Building and north of Spokane Falls Blvd. The selected site was once used as a railroad right of way. Rock was removed and retaining walls installed to create a trench for the railroad. This site will provide savings from excavation and blasting.
Utilities (including gas, power, fiber, sewer and water), are all within close proximity to the site. No setbacks or easements occur within the project site other than setbacks mandated by building code and zoning regulations. Site considerations also address issues such as prevailing wind direction, to ensure intake and exhaust air is handled properly, traffic noise on Spokane Falls Blvd, and access for both vehicles and pedestrians.
