College of Nursing Pre-Requisites/WSU General Education Requirements


Nursing Pre-Requisites

  • Complete pre-reqs prior to RNB course work for full admission to all nursing courses.
  • May complete pre-reqs concurrent with enrollment in Nurs 360 and Nurs 477 only.
  • Required courses: 
 Intro to Sociology or Sociology Problems  3 semester credits
 Intro to Psychology
 3 semester credits
 Statistics (Descriptive and Inferential Statistics)
 4 semester credits
 College Chemistry with lab credit
 4 semester credits
 Anatomy and Physiology
 8 semester credits
 Microbiology  4 semester credits
 Human Nutrition
 3 semester credits

NOTE: Credit count may vary slightly with semester/quarter conversion.  5 Qtr Cr = 3.3 Sem Cr


 WSU General Education Requirements (GERs)

  • RNs admitted to WSU for August 2009 and following semesters may complete 6 GERs or an approved transferable degree (AA or DTA) or a BA/BS degree to meet requirements. GER requirements include:
1 humanities (Art, Music, English literature, Philosophy, other choices available)  [G] or [H]
2 communications (1English comp, second English comp or Intro to Speech)

[W] + [W] or [C]

1 intercultural studies (study of non-western, non-white culture; Anthropology, World Music, other choices available) [I], [G] or [K] 
2 world/western civilization history          [A]
