Pre-Requisites/WSU General Education Requirements
Lower Division Course Work Pre-Requisite to the Nursing Major
Faculty at the College of Nursing believe that students need excellent preparation in lower division arts and sciences so as to meet expectations for critical thinking skills required in professional practice. GERs include specific campus requirements for graduation. College of Nursing prerequisite courses include:
| Anatomy & Physiology | 8 semester hours |
| Chemistry courses with labs to include inorganic, organic and biochemistry | 8 semester hours |
| Growth & Development Across the Life Span | 3 semester hours |
| Human Nutrition | 3 semester hours |
| Introduction to Sociology/Social Problems | 3 semester hours |
| Introduction to Psychology | 3 semester hours |
| Microbiology | 4 semester hours |
| Statistics | 4 semester hours |
WSU General Education Requirements

World Civilizations [Gen Ed 110 and 111 or
upper division coursework] substitutes for
transfer students with more than 60 hours |
6 semester hours |
| Communications Proficiency | 6 hours, including at least 3 in written communications |
| Mathematics Proficiency | a minimum of 3 hours |
| Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences | 9 hours total, with at least 3 hours in each category |
| Intercultural Studies | 3 semester hours |
| Sciences | a total of 10 hours with at least 3 each in both biological and physical sciences, and including at least 1 credit hour of laboratory sessions |
| Tier III: the only upper-division requirement in General Education | 3 hours (typically fulfilled at the College of Nursing) |
