Inbound Calls
Inbound calls received on the Spokane campus generally
fall into two categories:

Central Console Calls

- These are calls dialed to Spokane’s primary
number, 324-7360. They are answered and
forwarded by the Receptionist.
- These are calls dialed to Spokane’s primary
number, 324-7360. They are answered and
forwarded by the Receptionist.
- Direct Inward Dial Calls

- Each faculty and staff member has been issued their own phone number, allowing outside calls to go directly to their office. If they are unavailable, the call is forwarded to their voicemail.
Outbound Calls
Calling Outside the Building:
Press 9 and the phone number.
Calling Inside the Building:
All numbers at the College of Nursing Spokane campus
begin with 324-7xxx. When placing a call inside the
College facility, drop the first two digits and dial
47xxx.
Long Distance:
- WSU Pullman, WSU Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver and the College of Nursing’s Spokane and Yakima campuses are on the same network. When placing a call within this network, dial the last 5 digits of the phone number. It is not necessary to dial 9 first.
- Locations not listed above: 9 + 1 + Area Code + Number.
- Add authorization code if needed. (Most faculty do not have this feature.)
- Credit Card: 9 + 0 + Area Code + Number.
Phone Features
- To place a call on hold, press HOLD and hang up. (Line lamp blinks)
- To retrieve a call on hold, press HOLD.
- To place a call on hold, call another party and alternate between calls:

- Press HOLD
- Dial second party. First party on hold; second party on line.
- Press HOLD. Second party on hold, first party on line.
- To return to holding party when one party hangs up:

- Hang up.
- Press HOLD. Holding party on line.
- If you want your calls to go somewhere other than your office:
-
- Lift receiver.
- Press * 3 or the CALL FORWARD button.
- You will hear the Confirmation Tone (Beep Beep).
- Dial the number where you can be reached (Confirmation Tone again).
- Hang up and calls will be forwarded.

To cancel, pick up receiver
and press # 3 or the CALL FORWARD
button.
- Unannounced:
-
- While in conversation, press XFER button.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial new extension number.
- Hang up when ringing begins.
- Call will come back to you if no one answers.
- Announced:
-
- While in conversation, press XFER button.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial new extension number and stay on the line until party answers.
- If individual does not answer or if busy, press XFER to get caller back.
- Announce the call and hang up.
If you are on the phone and you hear one short ring
(internal call) or two short rings (outside call), you
have a call waiting. It rings only once.
(Some of the phones are programmed to go directly to
voice mail if busy.)
- Press hold and hang up.
- When your phone rings, Call Waiting party will be on
line.
Alternating between calls:
- Press hold (putting second caller on hold).
- Your first caller will be on line.
Return to Holding Party when one party hangs up:
- Hang up. Lift receiver and get dial tone.
- Press HOLD and holding party will be on line.
- To place a Call Back when someone's line is busy:

- Dial internal number.
- You will hear a busy signal or Call Waiting tone.
- Press your CALL BACK button.
- You will hear a Confirmation Tone. (Beep Beep)
- When the individual hangs up, your phone will ring 3 quick rings.
- To place a Call Back when there is no answer:
-
- Dial internal number.
- When the phone has rung THREE (3) times, press your CALL BACK button. (If it rings four times, it will go to voice mail.)
- You will hear a confirmation tone. (Beep Beep)
- To return a Call Back:

- When someone has placed a Call Back on YOUR extension:
- Your line lamp flutters and you hear "Message… Message" when you pick up your receiver.
- Press your CALL BACK button.
- Phone rings at the extension that placed the call.
- If there is no answer, hang up and Call Back will
be canceled.
Store up to 10 frequently used phone numbers.
- To store or change a number:
-
- Lift receiver.
- Press # 4 * or ABBREV DIAL button *.
- Press storage number (any digit 0-9).
- Confirmation tone.
- Dial phone number (be sure to add 9).
- Confirmation tone.
- Hang up and record your storage number and phone number.
- Use a stored number:
-
- Lift receiver.
- Press # 4 or ABBREV DIAL
button and storage number (0-9).
Auto Dial (Not Available on basic Model):
Used for most frequently dialed calls; one phone number
per button.
- To store or change a number.
-
- Do not pick up receiver.
- Press AUTO DIAL button.
- Enter phone number (include 9).
- Display an Auto Dial number (Display models only):

- Press DSPL button.
- Press AUTO DIAL button.
- Make a call:

- Lift receiver or press SPKR button.
- Press AUTO DIAL button.
- While in conversation, press XFER.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial second party.
- Press XFER again and all three are joined.
Conference Call (Connecting a Total of Seven Parties - Maximum of Four External Parties):
- Dial first party.
- Press CONF button.
- (First party is put on Hold)
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial next party.
- Press CONF button.
- When everyone has been dialed, press CONF again to
tie everyone together.
To rejoin the conference when a called number is busy or unanswered:
- Hang up.
- Lift receiver. You will hear "Conference… Conference."
- Press # 1 or CONF
button. You have rejoined the conference.
If you find it necessary to place your phone on hold while in conference:
- Press ACCESS # 1 or CONF button and get a dial tone.
- Dial another number or hang up.
- To rejoin, lift receiver.
- Press # 1 or CONF button to
rejoin conference.
